Save the Children is India’s leading independent child rights organization. We run 75 programmes in 19 states of India, all meant to support underprivileged children. We protect children from various forms of harms like labour, marriage, abuse, trafficking; we put them into the fold of quality education so that they turn into self-sustaining adults; most importantly; we provide often life-saving medical and nutrition support to children battling malnutrition, infection & diarrhea. Since 2008, we have changed the lives of more than 10 million (1 crore) Indian children.
In 2017 alone, we reached 22.75 lakh children.
When crisis strikes, and children are the most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure that children’s most pertinent issues are addressed and their voices are heard. We establish this through our advocacy initiatives, media initiatives, reports & publications and more.
A major aspect of Save the Children’s work is to engage with and empower the most marginalised communities of India. We take children’s voice to the platforms where it matters the most. We engage with the Government consistently to drive policy change in the best interest of children. In everything we do, we ensure that we put children first and champion their rights all along.
In 2017:
• 9,01,288 children directly benefitted through our programmes
• 4,26,032 children were provided protection from different forms of harms
• 1,64,931 children were provided medical support and nutrition
• 61,289 children were provided access to quality education
• 37,491 children were provided life-saving humanitarian aid during emergencies
Globally, Save the Children is present in more than 80 countries and works to improve the lives of children living there.
Save the Children is registered in India as ‘Bal Raksha Bharat’ under the Societies Registration Act 1860. All donations made to Save the Children are tax-exempted under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
