Bicycle Parking - mark where you park your bike, find bike parking nearby and add new spots that aren't on the map.
Find bicycle parking in your area. If spots aren't on the map yet, you can take a picture with the app to add bicycle parking areas and share that info with everyone in the public database.
Map Markers:
*Green are confirmed bicycle parking areas added by you and me. Tap the info window to view the image and any notes. Green markers may have different icons depending on different types like lockers, wave, etc.
*Yellow are pump and repair stations. Smaller yellow icons are from external data sources that have not been confirmed.
*Small purple dots are bike parking / bike racks from external data sources, such as public lists of data provided by your city. External data sources have not been confirmed. If your city has data available, please contact us and we'll add it to the database!
*Blue are Bike Share stations.
*Purple is where you parked your bike! There is one purple marker at a time. To delete it and add a new one tap on the info window that says "I Parked Here!" and a message will pop up asking if you want to delete it. Then the "Park Here" button will re appear so you can add another one at your next parking spot.
Don't remember where you parked? Tap the "My Location" button in the bottom right to toggle between your current location and your parking spot.
Tapping "Add Spot" will allow you to snap a picture of the bicycle parking areas that are not yet on the map. Your coordinates and the image will be sent to the public database for approval. No identifiable information will be sent along with this information; only latitude, longitude and image! Image is required so we can confirm that the location is bicycle parking :) we get a lot of images that are not bike parking. Use the mini map to drag and drop the pin and pinpoint the exact location of the new parking area. Sometimes the pin must be tapped a couple times to enable dragging. Tap the zoom button to zoom in on the pin. Tap reset to refresh your current location and reset the zoom level. The mini map will be satellite or standard depending on your preference for the main bike parking map.
The three dots in the top right corner open a small menu with options to toggle satellite view and clear bike parking cache. Bike parking types are always being updated on the back end. Occasionally clear the cache to see the new icons. Also try clearing the cache if some icons aren't showing up for some reason.
End notes:
I'm not some big corporation trying to promote anything. I'm just a person who likes to ride bikes and likes to write code. Enjoy the app and go out for a bike ride!
