Bottom Lines is a simply app that calculates the quantity of cargo that needs to be added to or deducted from the total quantity of a grade on oil tankers.
Especially useful on VLCCs and Suez Max vessels, provided that the bottom line quantities are included in the tank volumes inside the ship's tank calibration tables.
Just a few simple steps are required to calculate the quantities to be added to / deducted from your grades:
1. Create a new entry, fill in the names of the grades used ( a maximum of five grades), assign a grade to each bottom line as applicable, and tick the check box for each bottom line if the line is full.
2. Go to the grades/tanks screen (by pressing the 'Set grade for tanks' button), and select the grade for each tank. Tanks that are empty should remain marked as empty. A maximum of 23 tanks can be used (7 crosses plus 2 slop tanks).
3. Go to the line qty/section screen (by pressing the 'Line qty / section' button) and enter the quantity of each line section as appropriate (to be taken from the ship's tank calibration tables).
And you are done! Now if you need to change the grade in a bottom line, simply select the new grade for that bottom line, and instantly the quantities to add or deduct to each grade are updated.
