Feeling exhausted, anxious, stressed? Too much in your To-Do list; never any time to think, to reflect, or rebuild your mental capacity? Brain running on empty? You need a way to calm your busy, exhausted brain and regain control of thinking capability, manage brain energy and improve your mood and output.
We give our bodies a break after hard work – provide your mind with a productive break after focused work.
Wander120 is designed to activate the brain’s regular resting state for refreshed and re-energized thinking. It was less than 25 years ago that this resting state – what we think of as daydreaming and sleeping time – was observed as actually anything but resting! The Default Mode Network (specific areas in the brain) was found to be continually active when the brain was not focused on ‘doing’ –it was busy sorting memories, visualising, planning the future, creating reflection!! We perceive this time as mind drifting, dreaming, mind-wandering, and it has been shown to be critically important for a range of functions such as improving learning through consolidation of memories; expanding our thinking driving those ah-ha moments and new ideas; and acting as a brain energy break and rebuild tool.
By choosing to daydream – being mindful mind-wanderers - we can ensure our brain gets its break time, and we remain aware of our meanderings to ensure they stay positive.
Invest in your mind the same way you invest in your body. Know how to use it to the best of its ability – always giving it time to replenish and reset.
Wander120 provides an easy way to incorporate mindful mind-wanders into your every-day routines – a brain break might be needed during work time, after high focused work, to delineate the end of the day, before or after meetings, etc. The app will give you a prompt topic to act as the start of a break in order to launch your own brain break. You are not trying to stay on the topic suggested – go where your mind wants to meander, (bring it back to topic if you don’t like where it is going). It is called associative thinking – Swans on a Lake, might create a mind drift: white feathers, Eiderdown, cosy bed, last winter, skiing, OR flying, air on the face, rollercoaster, candyfloss OR birds, dawn chorus, sunrise, etc.
