Off-line dictionary with simplistic UI optimised for one-hand use on mobile phones:
- UI is inverted to be easily reachable by a thumb alone
- The search bar is at the bottom
- The lookup list starts at the bottom
- Major controls (e.g. navigation) are the the bottom
- There's a lookup shortcut from text menu (long tap/selection of text) - you can make selection in other apps and bring up dikt search
WordNet® 3 (large lexical dictionary of English) is bundled with the app. Dictionaries can be imported from JSON files. How do I get those files? You can take dictionaries available in various formats (DSL, StarDict, etc.) and convert them using PyGlossary free tool (available on GitHub) to JSON. Or use the following open-source converter to produce optimised .dikt binary dictionaries: https://github.com/maxim-saplin/dikt_converter/tree/main
Also available on Windows, macOS, Linux and Web(as Progressive Web App).
The project is built with Flutter and is open source: https://github.com/maxim-saplin/dikt
