The Drone Surveyor app has been designed to be used by drone pilots that need to obtain high resolution aerial composites. It’s a cheap option, especially if the drone pilot already has the equipment. The Drone Surveyor app is a great app to have in any drone pilots’ arsenal.

**CONNECTION TIPS**
For an optimal experience, the following steps are the most reliable way of getting a connection:
1. Force close the Drone Surveyor app. Do this by opening the Android task manager (usually the three vertical lines | | | on the bottom of the screen, or physical button). Once there, find the app and swipe up/down/left or right to 'force close it'
2. Turn on your drone and the remote controller. Then make sure the remote controller is connected via USB to your phone
3. Wait for the drone lights to flash green quickly for a few seconds - this indicates that the drone is initialized and has a stable connection with GPS, it's now ready to fly
4. Launch the Drone Surveyor app. It should detect the drone and connect. You'll know if it's connected when the 'GO FLY' button becomes active.
If it doesn't work, you can force close and relaunch the app (without turning off the drone or remote controller) to initiate the drone connection phase again.
**FLYING TIPS**
1. Fly around the middle of the day to ensure there is enough daylight. The drone takes photos while it is moving, so if you fly early in the morning or late in the afternoon you may end up with blurry images.
2. Fly on overcast days. When it is overcast the imagery will not have sharp shadows. If you fly on an overcast day, the image will look more even as there won't be harsh differences in light
3. Fly on calm days. On calm days the drone will have more stability and the images will be captured closer to the original flight path
Drone Surveyor tries to use the optimal camera settings such as exposure and focus. It's much better if you fly between 11am and 2pm.
**IMPORTANT**
The drone must not be in sport mode when starting the mission. Please switch the drone into the standard flight setting before launching. Always fly in safe conditions and beware of obstacles.
