The “Explorers of ΑEEC in action!” game has been created within the framework of the
project “DPlus088 Addressing drivers of change in Lake Akrotiri, Cyprus” through a grant
award from Defra Darwin Plus.
The aim of this game and the associated interactive application is to provide school
groups and other visitors of the Akrotiri Environmental Education Centre (AEEC) a fun
and interactive tool for exploring the Akrotiri Peninsula, through the exhibition rooms
and the botanical garden of the AEEC. During the game, participants will have the
opportunity to encounter the habitats, fauna and flora of the Akrotiri Peninsula and to
gain knowledge on environmental and cultural aspects of the area.
The creation of this game was the result of the collaboration between the Unit for the
Education for Environment and Sustainable Development of the Ministry of Education
and Culture, the Frederick University, and the United Kingdom Centre for Ecology and
Hydrology (CEH). The Mobile Devices Laboratory of the Frederick University sponsors a
long-term technical support for this game.
