The game is based on years of research and experience into the science of literacy. It incorporates key skills for literacy, including Phonological Awareness, Letter Recognition, Phonics, Vocabulary, and Sight Word Reading so kids can develop a strong foundation for reading. Built around the concept of caring for a collection of monsters, it is designed to encourage empathy, perseverance and socio-emotional development for children.
WHO ARE WE?
Feed the monster was funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the EduApp4Syria-competition. The original Arabic app was developed as a joint venture between Apps Factory, CET – The Center for Educational Technology, and IRC – The International Rescue Committee.
Feed the Monster was adapted to English by Curious Learning, a non-profit dedicated to promoting access to effective literacy content for everyone who needs it. We're a team of researchers, developers, and educators dedicated to giving children everywhere literacy education in their native language based on evidence and data – and are working to bring the Feed The Monster app to 100+ high-impact languages around the world.
