This simple app can reduce eye strain and headache caused by PWM on OLED screens by replacing system brightness management with this app.
Features:
- Supported Android next to 15;
- Adjustable auto brightness/manual brightness modes;
- Customizable pixel filter to reduce screen burn-in;
- Customizable brightness bar notification and dim duration;
- Extra dim option;
- Always on display mode support;
- Option to take a screenshot without filter;
Note: This app will NOT cause your display to burn in. Display pixels are lighting on the same level as with the system brightness management.
1. I don’t understand whether there is an effect, my eyes get an eye strain/start to feel nauseous from the PWM:
- Application uses PWM of the maximum brightness of the phone, whether the application will help you or not - depends on the sensitivity of your eyes.
2. The application has stopped working, it seems to be turned on but there is no dimming:
- Go to Accessibility, turn Screen Dimmer off and on, then reactivate it in the application itself.
This is a security policy of the Android system that turns off the application every 2-3 days, this will stop over time.
3. In horizontal orientation, dimmer overlay does not flip/there is no dim on the sides of the screen
- Solution: same as point 2, or restart the phone.
4. Screenshots are dark if the application is enabled:
- It is necessary to take screenshots with a special button in the application, system gestures/buttons do not disable the application.
5. System bars/navigation or notifications are not dimmed:
Your system has ROM that has an additional security level enabled that does not allow a dimmer overlay to be displayed on top of the system panels.
6. How to control the brightness?/I want to change the brightness, but the system bar one always returns to 100%:
- You must control the brightness in the Screen Dimmer notification, the system brightness will always be at the level where the PWM is least.
7. Is my screen burning out? The brightness is always at maximum!, this probably drains the battery:
- Screen pixels lighting at the same level as they would with the system brightness, this application does not cause screen burn-in and does not drain the battery.
This app uses Accessibility permissions to dim the screen.
