vSAN Quick Sizer is a fast, easy and simple way to size your vSAN Environment. With minimal inputs, you can analyse how much storage and compute resources you will need with vSAN, request an HCI assessment and share the sizing report with others in your decision making team.
The app performs host-based sizing, which sizes for vSAN based on a number of variables, such as servers you choose/have, numbers of servers, disk group layout, and drive size.
Key Features and Benefits:
1.Size with Minimal Inputs: As this app is meant for quick sizing, we ask users for minimal inputs required to estimate vSAN sizing. Along with providing number of servers, you can choose to provide inputs for Configuration type, ReadyNode (Server) Vendor/System, Disk Groups/ Drive configuration, FTT and Dedup values. We have provided default values based on average vSAN deployment configurations. The more information you provide, the more precise will be the recommendation. You can alter these values based on your desired usable capacity.
2.Instantly Receive a Sizing Recommendation: After providing the inputs, the recommendation page gives you insights into your sizing, including capacity distribution, memory distribution, number and type of licenses you will need and a summary of your inputs. You can also share the pdf sizing report with others directly from the app.
3.Easily Request a Detailed HCI Assessment: We always recommend vSAN Customers to go for “Assessment Based Sizing.” HCI Assessment help you get a detailed view of your IT environment. Sizing based on HCI metrics obtained from assessment is key for optimised sizing based on your workloads and IT requirements. VMware HCI assessment is powered by the LiveOptics tool. You can request an HCI assessment directly from the app. If you are a customer, you will be contacted by a vSAN sales representative once you request HCI assessment, if you are a Channel Partner / VMware SE, you can invite customers to run an assessment.
